The Sanctuary of the Soul-that is the residence of the ‘Inner Man/woman’-is all the more sacred because of the name it bears. The reason is simple: there is nothing stronger than belief, as the essential nourishment of the inner person; by the bread of understanding.
A sanctuary is either inhabited or deserted. The security requirement to do justice and love goodness-with humility- springs from the sanctuary; in obedience to Wisdom that brightens the way from within. The requirement comes with the choice to follow conscience with Wisdom as guide; – the distinction between Justice and Wickedness.
In process, it is the difference between deserters of love and peace-making by love stalwarts. We are examining the compartmentalization of knowledge and the creation of artificial boundaries as an obstacle to the oneness of the Soul. The alternative is a basking in the free ‘healing rays of Justice’ on love’s pastured plain.
The proof of the fact that belief is all is evident in relationships threatened by conflicts. In every situation of discord, there is conflict of at least ideas or views.
In Nations, groups decide to separate because they no longer believe in the National ideal. At the level of the International system, groups react violently against the system because they do not believe in the system. International terrorism is an example of the lack of systemic faith.
The profundity of belief is not just in religion, but in political as well as other aspects of the social system (Justice, Peace, Education etc). The student of international politics is immediately made aware that the best tool in intelligence is not necessarily money, but belief in a common cause;- unless of course, money constitutes the primary belief.
The distinction is in who or what lights the fire within. A primary belief system based on money will sell loyalty to the highest bidder. Nations lose direction without a proper definition of loyalties. Yet, others have purchased fungible loyalties. At issue is security;- severally defined.
The easier roads are always tempting thoroughfares. The challenge persists in the choice that is made by the Soul and its readiness to follow;-evident in the submission to Wisdom as leading light and a ‘teacher of justice’.
The fundamental questions are how much is submitted to, and how much is held back;- a matter of degree of instruction, assimilation and action. It is undoubtedly a journey. Indeed, we are told that a ‘Child grew, filled with Wisdom’; and the Maker’s favor was upon him.
This is the same Wisdom ‘that gave ready speech to infants’. The evidence of humanity’s growing wisdom is presented in the changing circumstances and the readiness of the Soul to ‘marry to strength’;-suggesting the gradual replacement of the ‘Inner Man/woman’ with Inner Light.
This is the continuing creation of Wisdom and the explanation of how a spirit can be something or nothing;- substantial only through belief, but always real as companionate Power. Wisdom then is dynamic, creative and Leading light personified. The pre-existent Wisdom is ‘Word’;- Spirit as Word to live by as well as a companionate tongue to quicken the weary.
The tangibility of the soul is understood in its creative power as evident in humanity’s everyday creative activity: an ‘idea’ is born and then ‘established’ as real. Reality follows from the “unreal” idea or concept concretized into object seen, heard, felt, peculiarly odorized and also testable. Hence the changing form of ‘nothing’ to ‘substance’ is actually the reverse; – ‘substance’ as initial and real thought to ‘nothing’ (as perishable object). The reader may discern which is more tangible or real.
The power of transmutation of spirit to soul and also soul to spirit is creative Wisdom at work; – the story of the ‘clay worker’ and the ‘potter’s jar’.Seeing is hardly believing; – although seeing can confirm belief
Evident wisdom is confirmation of faith and not necessarily the origin of faith. The vicarious presence of Wisdom is evident as in Justice, Peace, Sufferings, Hope and Love. It is the constancy of recognition that is premium; – the recognition of Wisdom and accompanying creative activity.
Wisdom is leading light as knowledge grows in experience, as by working power within; and with the heart that moderates by love. The continuing transformation of Wisdom as leading light and reminder of last days is a gradual imposition of the new order. Our present discoveries make easy this journey through Science, Technology and the Arts; – the gradual movement in the direction of hope and filial love.
I knew a man; still do, who told me the story of an aging pilot. She (pilot) described the only time she had a forced landing. She was flying in contrary wind, but decided to fly under the gust of the wind. She was describing the experience almost as a failure on her part. She was calmly demonstrating the ordeal to a group of listeners.
She’d come down the flight of stairs on the airplane to tell this story. I was completely mortified as I thought to myself: who is flying the plane while this lady is offering explanations? At some point, I became riveted in attention to her story-telling. She was methodical;-in fact, elegant as she described the circling of the plane ‘around and around’ and finally made a safe landing.
Safe to say, she improved in beauty as she progressed in her efforts. The lady had courage. She said she could not fly higher because of a lack of sufficient inner strength. (It was difficult to know if she meant herself or the aircraft as vehicle).
The reader is free to decide whose strength was in question, and who the co-pilot was.
